A Night for Nasim – A Night for Nasim Flyer
Undergoing cancer treatment alone can be a terrifying experience for any kid. Nassim was very fortunate. She had her family at her bedside, and the support of many friends during the long days and nights in the hospital. While there, Nassim took notice of many others who were not so fortunate. They did not have family or visitors during the day and were left alone. Nassim loved people, and loved helping others, and played with the other kids to help pass time during the day in the hospital. At the time, Nassim did not know that most of the parent(s) of the kids in the hospital were working during the day in order to financially support the family.
One day she told her mother about it and they decided to make a difference in the kids lives during their hospital time. On October 19, 2008, Nasim hosted a fundraising event for the Oncology Department of Children’s Hospital of Central California. With the help of her family, friends, the local community, and the Persian American Cancer Institute, she raised over $15,000 for the kids at the Children’s Hospital Oncology Unit.

Nasim’s Research:
On April 2011, as a student at Willow International, Nasim wanted to share the message about the type of leukemia she had with her Biology 5 class. In her own words, here is her assignment on Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
